The next morning greeted us with a stormy and cold day. We set off towards Seyðisfjörður, our last stop in Iceland before catching the ferry to Denmark. We didn’t want to arrive too late, as the campsite could fill up quickly. We drove back via Egilsstaðir, taking the opportunity to do some shopping for home and browse for small souvenirs. Then we reverently drove up the road, first climbing and then descending a long stretch into the valley to Seyðisfjörður. Proud and a little awestruck, we gazed down at the fjord, impressed that we had already covered this distance on the first day of our trip. Arriving in Seyðisfjörður, we found a cozy spot at the campsite. We strolled through the town, savoring our last Icelandic impressions and treated ourselves to one last soak in an old hot pot, where the charming sauna attendant accompanied us with her good humor during this farewell moment.

In the evening, we meet some lovely camping neighbors, a couple from Munich with their mother, who turn out to be fans of the Wacken Open Air festival. Despite, or perhaps because of, the close quarters of the campsite, everyone naturally grows closer, and a warm, friendly evening unfolds, filled with conversation and laughter. Thus ends our Iceland trip in a particularly wonderful way: with new encounters, a sense of community, and the feeling that we’ve truly savored every moment.
